Frequently Asked Questions

There are a number of important reasons to justify membership in the Green Team America program. Many of them are the same ones that caused faculty advisors and student eco-club members to get involved in the "green movement" in the first place. But there are also some additional and compelling reasons that should be recognized:

• Individual or single club efforts to do something positive to battle the effects of man-made climate change are on such a small scale that they cannot be effectively demonstrated or quantified...all efforts are important, but if you can't see the results, it is hard to keep up the effort...however, multiply your efforts by several million others, just like you, and the world will know your impact.

• Individual or single club environmental projects are difficult

to implement without financial and service support...washing cars and selling baked goods (which are not sustainable projects) can raise some money to buy small quantities of CFLs or small trees to accomplish the club’s sustainable projects, but affiliation with GTA provides national program underwriters, local commercial support, FREE materials, and some of the most respected environmental professionals in the nation for oversight and resource.

• Individual or single club activities are most often limited to the active portion of that club's total membership...GTA affiliation unites every club in an extended metro-area in a series of national projects and programs and promotes working relationships between clubs and individual members.

• Since "global warming" is a global problem, GTA provides a program of international club relationships...

students in America will be able to team-up with their counterparts around the world to exchange information, combine projects and influence lifestyles.

• The items stated are valid and important reasons to team-up with Green Team...but there is a far more critical justification:

• Individual or single club efforts may appear, to some, to be "too small to matter"...GTA, encompassing student eco-clubs across the nation, represents a force so powerful that it simply cannot be ignored...together, we have the ability to actually change the way we live in America and around the world...compel governments to face the responsibility of acting in the interest of our species...and protect our precious natural resources...our motto is our reason "The World Is In Our Hands".
